Researcher Identifiers, Profiles and Social Networks: ORCID
ORCID stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID. It is a unique, permanent identifier that is controlled by you and travels with you throughout your career.
Your ORCID can be linked to other Researcher IDs and profiles to provide a consistent way to connect all your research outputs and activities in the one record.
You can register for free directly via your NURO profile.
Why use ORCID?
You can easily link your ORCID to NURO and other researcher identifiers such as your Scopus Author Identifier, Web of Science ResearcherID and institutions or funders to ensure that all platforms are up-to-date.
Your ORCID will distinguish you from other researchers, including those who may have the same name.
Your ORCID will help research outputs be correctly attributed to you.
You can connect contributions and affiliations to you via your ORCID profile.
An ORCID is increasingly required by journals, publishers and funding bodies including the NHMRC and ARC.
From the NURO Homepage > My Actions > Add your ORCID > Click Add.
If you already have an ORCID you can sign in with your username and password.
If you don't have an ORCID you can click 'Register Now' and follow the instructions.
Once complete you will see a message in NURO indication your ORCID connection has been established. Refresh your browser and your ORCID should display on your NURO homepage.
Note: Setting your profile as public increases your discoverability and allows you to link ORCID to other platforms. Some publisher and grant applications require you to have a public profile.
Type your name into the search box to locate an existing ORCID record.
If you have an ORCID you will see this in the search results, you can then return to the login page to reset your password if necessary. If your name does not appear, follow the steps above to create an ORCID.
If your NURO record is populated, you can export your publication list and import it into ORCID.
Log into NURO and click NURO Home > Publications > click Export to export a complete list of your publications (or select a range of publications individually via the checkbox next to each title).
