Exporting Records from Library Search

 

You can export records from the results page in Library Search directly to EndNote. You can export single or multiple records.

Export a single record

1. Conduct your search in Library Search. Click "citation" marked by the quotation mark in the top right hand corner of the item.

    

 

2. Then click "EXPORT RIS". Leave the drop down on "Encoding" and select "Download".

     

 

3. Open the downloaded record file:

  • If using Firefox, select the default Open option and click OK.
  • If using Chrome, click the downloaded file from the left of the browser task bar.
  • If using Edge, click the Save/Open option from the pop-up menu bar at the bottom.
  • If using Safari, go to the Downloads folder, and then drag the file to the EndNote icon in the Dock at the bottom.

EndNote will open and prompt you to select the EndNote library to import your results.

IMPORTANT! References exported from Library Search may not be 100% accurate. Check the quality of references you have imported, and edit them as necessary.

 

Export multiple records

1. Conduct your search in Library Search. Select each item from the results that you would like to export. Then click the "add this item" pin at the top of the results. You will need to sign in to complete this process.

   

2. Click on the "Go to my favourites" pin at the top of the page.

     

3. In the "My Favourites" folder, select the records you would like to export. Then click the three dots for "Push to" actions. Click "EXPORT RIS", leave the drop down on "Encoding" and click "Download".

IMPORTANT! This is a temporary folder, your saved items will be cleared when you leave. You can export, email, or print your saved items at any time.

4. Open the downloaded record file:

  • If using Firefox, select the default Open option and click OK.
  • If using Chrome, click the downloaded file from the left of the browser task bar.
  • If using Edge, click the Save/Open option from the pop-up menu bar at the bottom.
  • If using Safari, go to the Downloads folder, and then drag the file to the EndNote icon in the Dock at the bottom.

EndNote will open and prompt you to select the EndNote library to import your results.
