Exporting Records from Library Search

FYI: If the downloaded .RIS file from Library Search does not open in EndNote when double clicked, and EndNote prompts you to choose a filter. Try to follow the link in Library Search to the database and export the citation from there.

You can export records from the results page in Library Search directly to EndNote. You can export single or multiple records.

Export a single record

1. Conduct your search in Library Search. Click "citation" marked by the quotation mark in the top right hand corner of the item.

2. Then click "EXPORT RIS". Leave the drop down on "Encoding" and select "Download".

3. Open the downloaded record file:

  • If using Firefox, select the default Open option and click OK.
  • If using Chrome, click the downloaded file from the left of the browser task bar.
  • If using Edge, click the Save/Open option from the pop-up menu bar at the bottom.
  • If using Safari, go to the Downloads folder, and then drag the file to the EndNote icon in the Dock at the bottom.

EndNote will open and prompt you to select the EndNote library to import your results.
