University of Newcastle Policies

Policy and Data Management

Decisions made in relation to the management of research data should be informed by relevant policy, procedures and guidelines that the research project must adhere to.

The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research

In Australia The Australian Code for Responsible Conduct of Research guides institutions and researchers in responsible research practice. The Code has been jointly developed by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), the Australian Research Council (ARC) and Universities Australia. Please refer to the guide for Management of Data and Information in Research. Published in 2019, the guide supports the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and sets out responsibilities for institutions and for researchers. For researchers these include: data retention and publications, managing confidential and sensitive information, acknowledging the use of others' data and engagement with relevant training.
