The MakerSpace is proud to be a part of or initiate projects that are not only creative but also environmentally friendly or sustainable.
We 3D designed and printed our own strap adjusters for one of our clients who was sewing a top.
Polymaker Polyterra PLA Matte filaments has produced a brand new filament which has a reduced plastic content (40%) and is indeed a step closer to a more environmentally friendly product. It also has a recycled cardboard spool, labels and outer packaging which is awesome!
AND when you buy a spool and Polymaker will plant a tree in Australia through the ONETREEPLANTED global association.
It comes in these cool matt and pastel colours and we will definitely be switching over to this product and advocating for more like it.
We melt 3D filament pieces down to make clip boards for our workshops!
An example of using left overs or recycling materials when possible, this is a sewing/dressmakers ham. These are used as a curved surface when ironing or pressing curved areas of clothing and this one has been stuffed with the unusable scraps from sewing projects.
