Opening up with the OER Collective

Ruth is the Coordinator, Digital Library Programs in the University Library and is one of the University Library contacts for academic and professional staff who are interested in adopting, adapting or creating open textbooks.  

Ruth helps the Teaching Liaison Librarians to keep track of new open textbooks, and can provide support for navigating the Collective’s publishing platform, Pressbooks.

Yali and the Library OER project – Why is it important? 
Yaliilan Windle - Lead, Indigenous Engagement, University Library

Yaliilan Windle, known as Yali to us, is a Wiradjuri, Tharawal woman, with many other familial, cultural, and community ties to other Nations both nationally, and internationally. Yali is the Library’s Lead Indigenous Engagement and is a Blakademic in her own right.

Unlocking knowledge: Equity and accessibility in educational innovation
Dr Eleonora Leopardi -  Lecturer in Clinical Education at the Central Coast Clinical School, School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle, where they teach into the Joint Medical Program.  

Dr Leopardi is passionate about preparing current medical students to deal with the healthcare challenges that humanity will face in the next 50 years. They believe in fostering self-directed and self-regulated learning in students from the earliest stages of their training, in order to prepare them for continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

Behind the scenes of Access: Critical Explorations of Equity in Higher Education 
Julia Shaw - Research and UNESCO Chair Coordinator at the Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education

Julia manages the open access journal “Access: Critical explorations of equity in higher education”, working with the journal’s executive editorial team based at the Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education at the University of Newcastle and the Centre for Education Research on Identities and Inequalities at Anglia Ruskin University.
