Free eBooks collections

You can locate eBooks available via open access by searching the internet using a search engine such as Google. 

Free eBooks are available in different formats and some may require specific software to read. Before using any free eBook, always check the website and abide by the relevant terms and conditions of use. 

Below are some of the well know sites.



Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB)

A searchable index of peer-reviewed books published under Open Access with links to the full text publisher websites or repositories.

Google Books

Titles in the public domain or not copyrighted are freely available. Other titles have previews or snippets available

HathiTrust Digital Library

A partnership of major research institutions and libraries working to ensure that the cultural records is preserved and accessible.

National Academies Press

The National Academies publish the reports issued by the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the Institute of Medicine, and the National Research Council, all operating under a charter granted by the Congress of the United States.

Project Gutenberg

Contains ebooks where the copyright in the U.S. has expired. This may not be the case for jurisdictions outside the U.S.

Project Gutenberg Australia

Contains books by authors who died prior to 1955, and which are in the public domain in Australia.
