Accessing EBSCOhost ebooks
Search the Library catalogue Library Search for the ebook you wish to read.
Click on the "View online in EBSCO" link and then login at the UON eResources login page using your standard UON login i.e. the same as you would use for Blackboard, MyHub, etc.
You will then be able to access the EBSCO title to read online.
EBSCOhost allows publishers to control how many copies of an ebook are available to users at a particular time (this may only be 1 copy). To see how many copies of each title are available open the full book record. Copies are listed under 'Concurrent user level'.
This limit on the number of borrowers may generate a message saying the ebook you have selected is in use. You can try again later or, if you want to ensure you can access it when it becomes available, place a hold on it. To do this you will need to sign into your existing EBSCO account or create one. You will then receive notification when the ebook is ready.
To read online:
Click on the PDF Full Text link on the left hand side of the page.
Downloading and printing from EBSCOhost ebooks
EBSCOhost has limits on how much of an ebook can be downloaded and/or printed.
Limits on downloading/printing as listed under "Publisher Permissions" as shown below:
Each user may only download/print the number of pages listed.
To download or print the allowable number of pages, click on the PDF Full Text link.
At the next screen, from the top menu options choose Save Pages:
You will be able to see how many pages you can download. You can select between three options to choose how many pages to download. Note that choosing a section with a greater number of pages than your allowance will not grant you extra pages - it will only print your remaining allowance.
After downloading (or emailing) the desired pages, you can print from the PDF.
