Annotated Bibliography: Using EndNote

This guide is designed to help students create an annotated bibliography

Using the APA 7th annotated bibliography style with EndNote

EndNote is the recommended citation management program for UON academics and HDR students. The APA 7th Annotated style provided by EndNote can be used to create an annotated bibliography by following these steps:

  1. Save Annotations: Make sure you have saved your annotations in the "Research Notes" field for each citation.
  2. Select APA 7th-Annotated Style: From the Styles drop down menu, select "APA 7th-Annotated." If it is not listed, click "Select Another Style" to open the EndNote Styles window. Double click "APA 7th-Annotated" to set it as the default style on the Styles drop down menu.
  3. Select References: Select the references you want to include in your annotated bibliography: press Ctrl + A to select all references or Ctrl + click to select the individual ones.
  4. Copy Formatted References: From the Edit menu, select "Copy Formatted."
  5. Paste in Word: Open Word, right click, and select "Keep Source Formatting" to paste.

Your annotated bibliography will be created in the style of APA 7th.
