For books and journals, we suggest you use the TRAAP option. Some information such as the review status is known about these resources so may not need to be investigated. However other elements such as timeliness, relevance, authority, accuracy and purpose need to considered.
For other types of information such as news media, websites, reports, social media, we may not know much about the author, the organisation they write for or the reliability of the content. Here we need to investigate further and the SIFT method can help determine the creditability of the information. SIFT stands for Stop, Investigate the source, Find other information and Trace the claims.
