Acknowledgement of Country

The University Library acknowledges and respects the continuing role of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people as the first knowledge holders. By sharing knowledge in a respectful and culturally safe manner, we can learn from each other and move forwards to reconciliation together: with empathy, understanding, and hope for our shared future.

In particular, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands within the University of Newcastle's footprint areas: the Awabakal, Darkinjung, Birpai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of Elders past and present. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
