United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were developed as a call for action by all countries to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. The 17 SDGs provide a framework to achieve a better and more sustainable future.

The University’s strategic priorities are aligned with the SDGs. You can read more about the University’s progress with SDGs in the 2021 Progress Report.

By framing, using, or incorporating the SDGs in your research you will be able to promote your work as being aligned with the SDGs.

Incorporating SDGs as keywords in your research outputs helps to demonstrate how the University is supporting these goals by highlighting University research linked to the SDGs.

For more information on using SDGs as keywords in the title, abstract and free keywords of your work, please contact your Research Liaison Librarian

In this video University of Newcastle researchers discuss why they consider the sustainable development goals an important element when planning their research.
