Introduction

This module provides an overview of how to develop a robust and comprehensive search strategy for all types of reviews that require a systematic approach to find relevant research for your topic. It covers the types of scholarly resources available and how to effectively locate, evaluate and manage search results.

After working through this module you will be able to: 

  • Develop a systematic approach to searching the literature   

  •  Apply basic and advanced search techniques to search online databases 

  • Find, locate and access full text versions of the literature  

  • Critically evaluate resources, determining the quality and authority of information  

  • Use a variety of tools to organise and manage notes and source materials 

  • Find support available to researchers through the University Library.
