Guidelines for non-traditional research outputs (NTRO)

Ensure your NTROs are as accessible as possible

  • Identify any content within the NTRO that is subject to copyright. For example, an NTRO may include content contributed by third parties or co-creators. Where an image of your NTRO has been taken by someone else (for example, for an installation or exhibition), that person will own the copyright in the image, and you will need to request their permission for reuse and/or ownership transferral (as appropriate).
  • Obtain permission from copyright owners. Check Seeking permissions: Copyright - What you need to know
  • Add a persistent identifier to your NTRO. The Library’s Scholarly Publishing team can assist with obtaining:
    • DOI - add to research datasets, theses, reports, conference papers, newsletters and creative works
    • ISBN – add to your research reports.
  • Include your NTRO in NOVA, the University’s institutional repository.
