So whether you're working on school assignments, studying for the HSC, or just looking for a good book to read, save yourself some research time and head to one of the University of Newcastle libraries.

About our Libraries

Our libraries are vibrant and engaging places to meet, read, study and learn. By signing up as a High School Borrower you can begin your journey as a member of the University of Newcastle library and get to know our collections, systems, and spaces before starting your university studies.

Auchmuty Library

The Auchmuty Library is located on the Western side of the Callaghan campus, near the Shortland Building. As our biggest library, the Auchmuty library holds the bulk of our physical resources with items from all subject areas as well as established fiction and graphic novel collections. On top of this, the Auchmuty library houses our Special Collections department, a café, a wide variety of study spaces and even a sleep pod!

Ourimbah Library

The Ourimbah Library is located at our Central Coast (Ourimbah) campus. The Ourimbah library hosts a medium sized collection of physical resources with a particular focus on teaching and health subjects. The Ourimbah library is also home to our MakerSpace- a unique learning space that encourages people to problem solve, learn, experiment, innovate, create, collaborate and find peer support.

Newcastle City Campus Library

Our smallest library, Newcastle City Campus Library exists within the NUspace building, located on the corner of Hunter St & Auckland St, Newcastle. The Newcastle City Campus Library houses mostly business and law items but also includes some creative industries resources, such as music scores. When visiting the Newcastle City Campus library be sure to explore the rest of the NUspace building to find other interesting study spaces.
