COVID-19 Notice:

Please be advised that some Library services and access to resources have been modified in response to the current COVID-19 situation.  Library buildings are open to university students, staff and our current Community Borrowers membership holders.  At this time, no general community members or non-university students can access our libraries.  As a result, the Open Door Program and library tours have been temporarily suspended.

As soon as you walk into the Library you will see our Library Service Zones, where friendly staff are available to help.

Callaghan Campus Libraries

Callaghan is the main campus of the University. Located just 12km west of the city of Newcastle, on a 140-hectare site of natural bushland. It is well serviced by both bus & train (via a railway station adjacent to the campus). The Callaghan Campus is also close to the freeway.

Auchmuty Library

Auchmuty Library

The Auchmuty Library is located on the Western side of the campus near the Shortland Union Building.

Auchmuty is the largest UON Library and covers a number of disciplines, including History, Engineering, Medicine, Linguistics, Social Sciences, and more.  This library also houses our Chinese and Japanese language collections.

Huxley Library

Huxley Library

The Huxley Library is located on Levels A and C of the Hunter Building on the Callaghan Campus.

It specialises in supporting the areas of Education, Nursing, Medical Radiation Science, Fine Art, and Photography.

Ourimbah Library

Ourimbah Library (Central Coast)

The Central Coast Campus is located at Ourimbah. The word "Ourimbah" is an Indigenous word meaning a place of learning.

The campus provides services to both Ourimbah TAFE NSW and University of Newcastle staff and students. Affiliates are the Central Coast Community College & the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music.

City Library

Newcastle City Campus Library (NeW Space)

The Newcastle City campus Library in UON's NeW Space building houses a dynamic collection of high demand and core items to support the needs of staff and students located at the Newcastle City campus, including Business, Law and Music.

Students can join at this campus library and borrow from its collection, however please note that this library is currently unable to accept school visits.
