University of Newcastle Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. September 8th 2020 10am-4pm on Zoom

Acknowledgement of Country

The University of Newcastle Library respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians and pays respect to our Elders, past, present and future, from the land on which we stand on: The Pambalong clan of the Awabakal People for our Callaghan Campus; The Darkinjung People for our Ourimbah Campus and the Birpai People for our Port Macquarie Campus.

Event description

What is history good for... if it is not for everyone? When you look at Wikipedia, whose history is missing? Women, LGBTIQ+, people of colour? Important places and events from regional Australia, Newcastle and the Central Coast? As part of this event, you will get the opportunity to build new skills and contribute knowledge to your community by enhancing Wikipedia content that connects to the University of Newcastle and its regions, incorporating people, places and events that have been ‘Missed in History’. It’s easy to learn and anyone can do it, even while sitting from home. Join the University of Newcastle Library for our virtual event or share your edits with the hashtag, #UONMissedInHistory.
