eBooks in digital format offer convenient access and enhanced search capabilities.  This guide presents eBook options available to University of Newcastle users as well as an overview of eBook-related topics.

Use eBooks in your research as you'd use print books including: for a topic overview, advanced learning, for basic information not normally presented in articles, for historical information and for reading pleasure.

What is an eBook?

The term eBook is an abbreviation for electronic book. It means a book that is available online in a full text format. The University of Newcastle Library’s eBooks are designed for research and can be read on any desktop or laptop computer and on a number of smart phone/tablet devices and eBook readers.

 

Finding eBooks in NEWCAT

To find an eBook on a particular topic, use the Subject or Keyword search options in NEWCAT. Often a Keyword search is the easiest way to find suitable titles.

Enter keywords related to your topic - NEWCAT will search for your terms in the title, author, notes and subject heading fields.

Note: this search will show eBooks, e-journals and e-newspapers. 


In Classic NEWCAT, limit your search to Online Collection:
